South India Tourism

MaduraiTourism:
Madurai is a city of pilgrimage; its greatest attraction is its Sri Meenakshi Temple, which is the epitome of Dravidian architecture, covered from bottom to top with multicolored sculptures of gods, animals and characters from mythology. Its entrance doors are huge and very well decorated and are the beginnings of life inside the temple and lively with its sacred elephant and colorful, the flower vendors and musicians playing the music of sacred temple. This temple is often crowded, mostly by Indian pilgrims. You can also visit the Tirumala Nayak Palace, built in 1636.

Not necessarily need to retain the name, Sri Meenakshi is one of the names of the wife of Shiva represented in the form of fish and therefore supposed to see everything and know everything.
Madurai is the abode of Shiva and his wife, two of the most powerful gods, creator / destroyer of the Hindu pantheon. The main parts of the temple were built in the thirteenth century, but with an activity, devotion and continuous maintenance, the temple is still very well preserved and sometimes in its original state.
By against, as you wonder the 16 towers of the temple were repainted with a private donation from a rich Hindu of the city and the colors are not original!

Walk the halls at will, statues and processions of pilgrims. Admire the statues habits that are sometimes changed every day depending on occasions. Do not hesitate to take a tourist guide who will help you understand how the temple and the many symbols those are there.

Finally let yourself be carried away by the animation and life that prevail in the arcade next to the pool because it is more than Madurai although it realizes that the temple is the foremost center of life community, where all the big business going on.
